Moselectroshield opens the third phase of its plant in the Vladimir Region

Moselectroshield, part of the Electrical Engineering Solutions division of the NEC Group, has opened the third phase of its plant in Kovrov. RUB 2.8 billion has been invested in the new production facility, which covers 15,500 sq. m. The new building is designed to produce up to 3,000 low- and medium-voltage switchgear units per year, rated from 0.4 to 35 kV. “Moselectroshield manufactures strategically important equipment that contributes to the energy security and independence of our entire country. The pace of the company’s development, achieved with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, as well as the city and the region, is very encouraging. New workshops have been opened for the second year in a row. We can see how naturally the company is becoming part of the social fabric of our region. Hundreds of new jobs have been created, offering competitive salaries. Moselectroshield is also involved in greening and improving public spaces in Kovrov. We strive to attract reliable and socially responsible businesses of this kind to every part of our region,” said Alexander Avdeev, Governor of the Vladimir Region. Switchgear units are designed for receiving and distributing electricity and for controlling and protecting electrical installations. They are widely used at power, industrial, and infrastructure facilities. The localization level of Moselectroshield’s key product lines reaches 95–100%. “The launch of Moselectroshield’s new production facility is an important contribution to the development of Russia’s domestic electrical engineering industry. The company is increasing the output of in-demand equipment, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to support its further development and new projects,” said Denis Klyapovsky, Deputy Director of the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the Fuel and Energy Complex. This year, Moselectroshield celebrates its 80th anniversary. The company’s history is closely linked to the development of Russia’s power industry: in 1950, the plant produced the country’s first domestically manufactured switchgear units. “We are continuing the history of a company that effectively pioneered domestic switchgear production, now at a new technological level. It is important for us not only to increase output, but also to develop our own technologies and expertise for Russia’s power industry,” emphasized Dmitry Filatov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC NEC. The opening of the third phase marks another stage in the plant’s large-scale expansion, with its production area more than doubling. Earlier, in 2025, the plant launched two new production facilities: a busbar trunking workshop with a capacity of up to 12,000 meters of products per year and a gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) cell production workshop with a capacity of 2,000 units per year. “The new facility significantly expands our production capabilities and provides a foundation for the company’s further development,” said Nikolai Shemyakin, CEO of Moselectroshield LLC.
